MITCHELL, S.D. — Dell Rapids PBR erupted for 13 runs in the second inning and rolled past Colome 16-0 in five innings Thursday morning during the second day of the Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament at Cadwell Park. Zack Puetz led the Dell Rapids offense, going 4-for-5 with a grand slam, a three-run double, seven RBIs and three runs scored. Dell Rapids collected 19 hits in the victory, with Weston Hansen adding four hits.
Garretson also advanced with an 11-1, seven-inning victory over Lesterville. Sam Siegel hit a home run, scored four runs and drove in four for Garretson. Robin Chute added three hits and three RBIs. Derek Fischer earned the win, pitching all seven innings while allowing one run on six hits with five strikeouts. Garretson will face Dell Rapids PBR at 8 p.m. Sunday in the second round.
Wynot, (Neb.) rallied from an early deficit to defeat Lake Norden 6-3 Thursday night. The Expos trailed 3-1 before scoring five consecutive runs. Wynot took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth inning. Jesse Lundal earned the win, allowing three runs, one earned, over six innings.
Alexandria overcame four errors to defeat Crofton, Nebraska, 6-4 in Thursday night’s final game. The Angels fell behind 3-0 in the first inning after committing two errors but responded with six unanswered runs. Ben Wilber tied the game with a solo home run, and Dakota Munger gave Alexandria the lead with an RBI triple in the fourth inning. Alex Mizsak earned the win, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out eight in six innings. AJ Wilber pitched the final three innings to earn the save. Alexandria improved to 16-3 on the season.
