The American Legion Department of South Dakota has decided to suspend its affiliation with the Mitchell Baseball Association following severe indictments involving a coach, a board member, and several players.
Six players from the 2023 team are facing charges of rape, with three of them being minors at the time of the incident in Pennington County last summer.
Additionally, a coach and board member are being charged for failing to report the crime.
The American Legion Department of South Dakota stated that the allegations are disturbing and contradict the values of American Legion Baseball, leading to the suspension until all indictments and court proceedings are resolved.
Players are allowed to join other teams under specific guidelines during this period.
