MITCHELL, S.D. – Clark and Dell Rapids advanced to the Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament quarterfinals with wins Tuesday night at Cadwell Park.
Clark rallied with five runs in the fifth inning to upset South Central League champion Tabor, 10-3. The Traders collected 12 hits and took advantage of four Tabor errors. Hudson Fuller earned the win, allowing one earned run and five hits over eight innings.
Dell Rapids defeated Hartford-Humboldt, 7-2. The Mudcats trailed 1-0 before scoring twice in the fifth inning. Ty Hoglund added a two-run triple in the sixth, and Dell Rapids scored three more runs in the seventh.
J.D. Prorok, a Madison Legion pickup player, earned the win after allowing two runs on three hits with six strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Austin Henry finished with 3 2/3 scoreless innings and struck out three.
The second round concludes Wednesday with Canova facing Redfield Dairy Queen at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Flandreau Cardinals against the Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks at 8 p.m.
Thursday’s quarterfinals feature Parkston Mudcats against Dell Rapids PBR at 5:30 p.m. and Alexandria against Volga at 8 p.m. Both games will be on KORN News Radio FM 101.3/AM 1490 and KORNRadio.com with Clint Greenway and Shaun Michaels.
Clark will face the Dell Rapids Mudcats in the first quarterfinal game on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
