HASTINGS, Neb. — RV Dakota Women’s Volleyball faced the Hastings Broncos in a conference matchup down in Nebraska.
The Broncos opened the match with the advantage in the first set, jumping to a quick 6-2 lead, but kills from Lily Ranschau and Evy Knoblock got the Tigers back on track. Ranschau led the team with her second-highest kill count of the season, registering 16 overall, while Knoblock followed closely behind with 14. A late surge from the Broncos saw both teams trade points through the traditional 25, with the Tigers managing to claim set one by a score of 28-26 after a kill by Ranschau and an attack error by Hastings.
The second frame saw a more back-and-forth affair, with each team able to string together scoring runs to keep the contest even every few points. Elizabeth Tyler continued her role as defensive anchor, recording 28 digs in three sets to keep the Tigers in scoring position. Kayleigh Hybertson contributed 36 assists to average 12 per set, setting up the rest of the offense to keep pace with the opposition. Dakota Wesleyan went on to win the second set 27-25, once again going to extra points to get the victory.
The third and final set saw the pace of the game accelerate in favor of the Tigers, with an 8-2 lead gaining Dakota Wesleyan the most momentum they would see all night. Karly VanDerWerff contributed six kills to the offensive effort while Presly Pastian and Carlee Laubach aided the backline, recording 11 and nine digs, respectively. A five-point run at the end of the set saw Dakota Wesleyan close out the match, 25-11.
