Recap – Dakota Wesleyan Men’s basketball team traveled to Orange City, Iowa for a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup with the 13th ranked Red Raiders of Northwestern. The Raiders proved why they were No. 13 in the nation as they opened the game with an 8-0 run in the opening three minutes before Blaze Lubbers found the bottom of the net with a deep three pointer. The Tigers found open shots in their offense but struggled to get the ball to fall as they found themselves in a 19-4 deficit with 13:20 still on the clock. Kallan Herman would score his first bucket with a fast break three only for the Raiders to answer it and keep it a 20-7 game. DWU’s offense wanted to run and be fast paced but struggled to get their shots to fall early in the first half.

The Tigers faced a 22-point margin with 10 minutes gone in the first half and needed a bucket and found one from Randy Rosenquist Jr. as he cut to the corner for a wide open three pointer. Coming up with seven minutes remaining, the Tigers had only scored five field goals, all of them three pointers with one free throw as they trailed 43-16. Jakob Dobney scored back-to-back threes as he looked to jumpstart the offense after he missed his first three attempts. Rosenquist re-entered the game and went coast to coast for the layup to score the Tigers 25th point as DWU trailed the No. 13 Raiders 50-25. The Raiders held a dominant lead as the two teams exited the floor for halftime, the Tigers trailed 56-31.

The Tiger offense switched it up to open the second half, as they attacked the rim more. Rosenquist and Dobney scored some shifty lay ins to open the scoring for DWU. Northwestern was still feeling the heat from the first half and drained two triples, as they extended their lead out to the largest margin of the night, 30 points. Sophomore Drew Norberg and senior Drew Van Regenmorter saw some minutes early in the second half and made the most of it, each of them scoring on their first shot attempt. The second half was a better shooting half for the Tigers as they started to hit shots and being more selective of the type of the shot type the offense was taking. The Tigers were unable to cut into the Raiders big first half lead and started to rotate the bench into the game. The Tigers put up 38 points in the second half, shooting a strong 44% from the floor.
