
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota basketball’s Cameron Fens was named to the All-Summit League First Team and All-Defensive Team, while Jordan Crawford was an All-Summit League Second Team honoree as announced by the league office Wednesday.
Fens, a senior from Dubuque, Iowa, averaged 17.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game and was the only player in the Summit League to average a double-double during league play. Fens ranked No. 7 in scoring and No. 1 in rebounding in the conference. He shot 60.9% from the field, had 22 assists and 25 blocks. Fens scored in double-figures in 14 of 16 conference games and had seven games with 20+. He rewrote his career highs for points and rebounds in the same game with a monster 31-point, 15-rebound double-double in a win over Kansas City. From February 4 to February 21, he recorded five straight double-doubles where he averaged 21.2 points and 11.8 rebounds.
Fens pulled down 118 defensive rebounds in conference play and was the only player in the league with 100+. He corralled over 10 defensive rebounds in four games and totaled a conference high 10 double-doubles. Fens was the leading shot blocker in the conference with 25 (1.6/game) and had nine games with multiple blocks. In a 23-point, 12-rebound double-double, Fens also blocked four shots in a win over Denver.
Crawford, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, established himself as a sharpshooter for the Coyote offense as he led the conference with 51 made 3-pointers on a 41.1% clip. Crawford ranked No. 9 in the league with a 17.0 points per game average and scored in double-figures in 13 of 16 games. He had five 20+ point games, including a career-high 33 with seven made 3-pointer against North Dakota State (Jan. 17). His 33 points against NDSU was tied for the third most points scored in a single conference game this season. Crawford had 11 games with multiple 3-pointers and seven with four or more treys.
South Dakota enters the Summit League Tournament later this week as the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 Omaha Friday at 6 p.m. at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
