Mayo Collects Summit League Weekly Honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota State’s Zeke Mayo helped lead the Jackrabbits to two victories and for his performance was honored as the TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s Basketball Peak Performer of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Zeke Mayo produced back-to-back 20-plus point performances in wins over Omaha and South Dakota this past week.

In a win on Thursday at home versus Omaha, Mayo scored 21 points on 7-for-13 from the field and 4 of 7 from deep. He also had five rebounds and three assists. In Saturday’s defeat over South Dakota, Mayo led the Jackrabbits with 20 points. He was 7 of 17 from the floor and 4 of 9 from 3-point range. He finished with six rebounds and a game-high five assists.

Mayo continues to pace South Dakota State in scoring (18.5), rebounding (6.1) and assists (3.5). The junior guard ranks among the top five individuals in Summit League men’s basketball in points, assists, field goals, free throw percentage, minutes per game and steals.

The Lawrence, Kan., native was previously honored three times a season ago as the league’s Peak Performer of the Week.

South Dakota State continues conference action this week. The Jackrabbits host Kansas City on Thursday at 6 p.m., then travel to Oral Roberts to face the Golden Eagles on Saturday in Tulsa at 7 p.m.
