
RAPID CITY, S.D. – Mitchell Kernels boys golf is tied for sixth after day one of the Class AA State Championships at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City.
Mitchell shot +31 as a team, tied with Brookings and eight shots behind fifth place Yankton. Harrisburg is in first place after Monday, shooting +7 as team to hold a four shot edge over O’Gorman.
Asher Dannenbring led the Kernels with a +4 (76) to be in a four-way tie for 10th place. Dannenbring had a birdie on the par-3 fourth hole.
Mitchell’s Everett Morrison also picked up a birdie on the fourth and 17th hole on his way to a +6 (78). Morrison is in a three-way tie for 21st.
O’Gorman’s Taten Mauney leads the field with a -4 (68), four shots better than Gavin Weir of Harrisburg. Mauney had six birdies on the day and was -3 over his last five holes.
The second and final day of the Class AA Boys State Golf Championships starts at 9 am on Tuesday at Meadowbrook Golf Course in Rapid City.
