Mitchell Kernels boys golf sits in fifth place after day one of the Class AA State Golf Tournament in Brandon.
The Kernels shot 310 (+26) as a team, five shots behind fourth place Harrisburg.
Watertown (286, +2) has a one shot lead over O’Gorman (287, +3).
Freshman Asher Dannenbring led the way for Mitchell with an opening round 71 (+1), to finish in a three-way tie for fifth. Dannenbring had five birdies, six bogeys and seven pars on the day.
Watertown’s Jake Olson leads by three shots after shooting a 69 (-2). Olson had four birdies and two bogeys in his first round.
The second and final day of the state tournament begins at 9 am on Tuesday.
