Mitchell Seniors Dylan Soulek and Steele Morgan were named to the Class AA All-State second team after leading the Kernels to their first state championship appearance in 11 years.
Soulek led Mitchell this season, averaging 13.2 points and 4.4 assists per game along with 4.8 rebounds. He has committed to Northern State University for baseball.
Morgan averaged 11.7 points, along with a team best 7.4 rebounds. Morgan has committed to Dakota Wesleyan for basketball.
Sioux Falls Lincoln’s J.T. Rock was named AA Player of the Year after averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. Mitchell defeated Lincoln 61-59 in the semifinals of the state tournament in Rapid City on March 17.
Pierre’s Lincoln Kienholz was also named to the All-State first team, averaging 18.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. The future Ohio State Buckeye led the Governors to the state tournament for the first time since 2017 where they lost to the Kernels in the quarterfinals 60-51.
Huron senior Reilyn Zavesky was a second team selection after leading AA with 23.5 points per game.
