Wessington Springs, Salem and Winner/Colome secured spots in the 2026 Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament with district tournament victories Friday night.
In Chamberlain, Wessington Springs edged Winner 8-7 to claim a state tournament berth out of District 3B. Blaze Herdman had a walk-off, two RBI double to win it for the Owls in the bottom of the ninth inning. Layne Cotton added three hits, two RBI’s and scored twice.
In District 5B in Platte, Winner/Colome defeated Platte 6-2 behind a big performance from Camden Anderson, who went 3-for-5 with a home run, double and three RBIs. The Pheasants advanced to the state tournament, while Platte’s season comes to an end with a 7-11 record.
Alexandria defeated the Parkston Rays 10-8 to win the District 5B championship. Carter Brown had a two-run home run for the Angels, while Peyton Smith and Jordan Gau each added a pair of hits. Dylan Soulek led the Rays with three hits and two runs scored.
Elsewhere, Salem topped Madison 11-3 in District 4B in Humboldt, while the Flandreau Cardinals defeated Canova 15-8. Madison takes on Canova for the final state tournament spot from District 4B at 3 pm on Saturday, followed by the district championship between Dell Rapids PBR and the Dell Rapids Mudcats.
In District 6B in Menno, Freeman and Lesterville will play Saturday at 4 pm, followed by the championship game between Tabor and Wynot, Nebraska.
The 2026 Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament will be held Aug. 5-16 in Mitchell at Cadwell Park.
