
FOREST CITY, IOWA – Dakota Wesleyan used a strong first half and three second half touchdowns to defeat Waldorf 40-21 Saturday night in Forest City, Iowa.
The Tigers led 19-0 at halftime after scoring on a Jayden Acosta 8-yard run, an 18-yard touchdown pass from Jed Jenson to Steven Christion and two field goals by Nate Wilber.
Waldorf opened the second half with a 17-yard touchdown run by Ory Vananda-Walker to cut the deficit to 19-7. Dakota Wesleyan answered with touchdown passes from Jenson to Chase McGillivary and Sean DeBlieck, pushing the lead to 33-7 after three quarters.
Christion added his second touchdown of the night on a 27-yard reception from Jenson with 7:59 remaining in the game, making it 40-7. Waldorf scored twice in the final four minutes.
Jenson completed 19 of 39 passes for 253 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. Christion led Dakota Wesleyan with seven catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns, while Caleb Kilbride had three receptions for 80 yards.
Landon Iverson led the Tigers on the ground with 65 yards on 20 carries. Dakota Wesleyan finished with 376 yards of total offense, including 253 passing yards and 123 rushing yards.
Dakota Wesleyan improves to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while Waldorf falls to 0-3.
The Tigers host Briar Cliff on Saturday, September 19 at 1 pm at Joe Quintal Field.
