An organic crop farmer in central Minnesota says harvest is
probably a month away.
Clifford Johnson grows corn, soybeans, and small grains near Paynesville.
“We won’t be going probably until mid-October, if we’re lucky.”
He tells Brownfield with none of his corn or soybeans planted before June 7th, crop development is way behind.
“We’ll be lucky if our corn makes it (because) it’s that late. But it’s kind of a blessing this year that we don’t have much corn.”
Speaking to Brownfield at a recent field day in southeast Minnesota hosted by the Land Stewardship Project, Johnson says he is hopeful the recent warm-up will help.
