John Deere lays off 190 Waterloo production employees

John Deere has confirmed another round of layoffs at its Waterloo, Iowa operations.

In a statement to Brownfield, the company said approximately 190 production employees have been placed on indefinite layoff effect June 22. Employees were informed of the decision in meetings with factory leadership.

John Deere says each factory, “balances the size of its production workforce with the needs of the individual factory to optimize the workforce at each facility.”

The Waterloo Operations has nearly 5,200 total employees with 3,300 of them working in production and maintenance jobs.
