South Dakota adds nearly $7 billion to ag sales in five years: Report

A new report shows a $6.9 billion increase in South Dakota agriculture sales in five years. The report, based partly on the 2017 Ag Census, says South Dakota’s agriculture sales grew from $25.6 billion in 2014, to an estimated $32.5 billion in 2019. The South Dakota Department of Agriculture report says agriculture represents about a third of total South Dakota sales.

The report cites South Dakota’s significant amount of crop and livestock production, as well as processing that adds value to many South Dakota commodities.
