Fatal Crash Involving Two Semis Claims Life of South Dakota Man in Minnesota

A crash on Sunday involving two semi trucks south of Madison, Minnesota, resulted in the death of Steven Michael Schanning, 68, of Gary, South Dakota.

The incident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 75 and 180th Street in Hamlin Township, Lac qui Parle County.

Jonathan Edward Kallemeyn, 48, of Lake Benton, sustained non life-threatening injuries.

The collision took place when Kallemeyn’s 2000 Peterbilt semi entered Highway 75, and Schanning’s 2000 International semi, traveling southbound on Highway 75, collided with it.

Responding to the scene were the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office, the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, and Dawson Fire and Ambulance.
