Large Dairy Farm Proposal Draws Crowd in Hazel, South Dakota

In Hazel, South Dakota, over 100 residents gathered at the Hazel Community Center to learn about plans for a proposed $86 million dairy farm, one of the largest in the country, spanning 250 acres and housing over 12,000 cows.

The land for this project is being provided by Governor Noem’s brothers, Rock and Robb Arnold.

The motivation behind the project is to boost the local economy, create jobs, and revitalize the community.

During the meeting, attendees raised concerns about road and water usage, odor control, and labor.

Representatives from the dairy farm emphasized their commitment to hiring and sourcing labor locally, and the project is moving forward with plans to apply for permits, including a conditional use permit from the County.
