MITCHELL, S.D. — The Mitchell Public Library is expanding its resources for young families with the launch of a Toy Lending Library beginning Monday, Aug. 3.
The program is made possible through a donation from Vicki and Roger Musick, allowing the library to become a partner library with the Toy Lending Library of South Dakota.
Library officials said the partnership will help provide Mitchell-area children with learning opportunities designed to prepare them for kindergarten.
Each month, the library will offer 20 different age-appropriate toys available for checkout. The collection will serve children from birth through age 5 and older. Toys may be checked out for three weeks before being returned to the library.
After the toys are returned, they will be sent back to the Toy Lending Library of South Dakota for cleaning and sanitizing before being made available for checkout again.
Families wishing to borrow toys will need to complete a waiver and release form at least once each year before participating in the program.
