No Mow May: Inviting Nature into Brookings Yards

No Mow May is a program in Brookings that allows residents to opt out of mowing their lawns in May to promote pollinators like bees and butterflies.

The Sustainability Council is also piloting a native plant program where residents can get vouchers for native plant purchases.

Participation is voluntary, and the City of Brookings encourages people to join to help bees and other pollinators thrive.

Other cities in the U.S. have adopted similar initiatives to create better habitats for pollinators.
