Nyibol Kuchlong, 26, and Nyok Kuoiloi, 36, from Brookings, welcomed their seventh child, a baby boy named Madit, who became Sioux Falls’ first baby of 2024.
Madit, born at 1:13 a.m. in Sanford Medical Center, weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces.
The couple, originally from Sudan and immigrants to the U.S., expressed their surprise at the early arrival.
Both mother and child are healthy, and Madit’s oldest sister is eager to meet him.
The couple met in a Sioux Falls church in 2016, and Madit is named after Kuchlong’s father, following their cultural tradition of using family generation names.
The couple acknowledged the challenges of parenting but expressed their determination to do their best.
