A man is in custody following a pursuit with the South Dakota Highway Patrol in Box Elder and the surrounding area.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported the 50 year old male driver from Rapid City was driving a Toyota Tundra that left Love’s Truck Stop in Box Elder after Pennington County dispatch received a call of a theft on the premises. The Box Elder Police Department located the vehicle traveling east on I-90 and attempted a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. The South Dakota Highway Patrol joined the pursuit which extended to Highway 14/16 and rural roads before turning west on I-90. Shortly after crossing into Wyoming, the vehicle spun and ran off the road. The driver attempted to regain control when a South Dakota Highway Patrol unit pinned the Toyota against a tree. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.
