Search is continuing for a missing Sanborn County man

The search is continuing for a Sanborn County man who’s been missing since Thursday evening. Sheriff Tom Fridley says the search resumed starting from the farmhouse east and south of Woonsocket where Eugene Prins was last seen around 7:30 p-m Thursday. Fridley says search and rescue personnel, three drones and a South Dakota Highway Patrol aircraft is searching an area from Woonsocket southeast to the Letcher area and beyond.

Volunteers also organized at noon Sunday at the weigh station at the intersection of Highways 34 and 37 east of Woonsocket to assist in the search on horseback and ATVs. Eugene Prins is in his mid-40’s he was wearing a stocking cap, khaki pants, blue shirt and a blue-gray flannel jacket. He has dark hair and graying beard wearing dark wire rimmed glasses.

Residents in the search area are asked to check sloughs, shelter belts and outbuildings. If you’ve seen Eugene Prins or know his location, please call the Sanborn County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 605-999-5661.
