Senator Paul Miskimins steps up to serve on Correctional Rehabilitation Task Force

Governor Larry Rhoden has announced the members of the Correctional Rehabilitation Task Force.

District 20 Senator Paul Miskimins is one of its members. He volunteered to serve as it’s an issue that’s close to his family.

Miskimins brother Jim is Davison County States Attorney, plus another brother spent some time in the prison system. “And I saw what it did to my parents and our family,” said Miskimins. “And so if we can make a difference in other individuals and families to change that circumstance, if should they have that misfortune, or they make those mistakes, to try to change their futures once that mistake has been made, I’m pleased to do that on behalf of my family.”

The Correctional Rehabilitation Task Force will assess the programming needs of the inmate population, understand options for faith-based and Native American-focused programs, study best practices for re-entry models, and make recommendations on how to best use the expanded space of the new facility. The task force will begin its work later this month.

Lieutenant Governor Tony VenHuizen is leading the task force.
