
Dakota Wesleyan quarterback Jed Jenson threw five touchdown passes as the Tigers dominated Doane University 33–7 on Saturday afternoon at Memorial/Papik Field in Crete, Nebraska.
The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for Dakota Wesleyan (2–4 overall, 1–4 GPAC), while Doane fell to 1–4 overall.
Jenson completed 20 of 30 passes for 306 yards and connected with four different receivers for scores. The junior signal-caller threw two first-half touchdowns to Cole Holden, including a 59-yard strike midway through the second quarter, and added long scoring throws to Sean DeBlieck (31 yards), Steven Christion (62 yards) and Caleb Kilbride (37 yards).
Dakota Wesleyan built a 27–0 halftime lead after outgaining Doane 272–65 in the first two quarters. The Tigers continued to roll early in the third when Jenson hit Kilbride for his fifth touchdown pass, extending the margin to 33–0.
Doane’s lone points came late in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by Sam Hartman, who also threw for 142 yards on 18-of-43 passing with one interception.
Holden led the DWU receivers with 83 yards and two touchdowns on three catches, while Christion added 75 yards and a score. On the ground, DWU used a committee of backs to total 44 rushing yards, though they relied heavily on the passing attack throughout the afternoon.
Defensively, Dakota Wesleyan limited Doane to 239 total yards, recording four sacks, plus one interception by Trevor Sladky, who returned it 22 yards. The Tigers also held Doane to just 5-of-19 on third down.
The Tigers return home next week as they take on Northwestern on Saturday, October 11 at 1 pm at Joe Quintal Field.
