Dimock-Emery wins District 5B

 

ALEXANDRIA, S.D. – Dimock-Emery is the District 5B Champs after a 10-7, come from behind win on Saturday vs. Winner/Colome.

The Raptors trailed 7-2 going into the top of the 7th inning. D-E would score four runs in the seventh to cut the Winner/Colome lead to one thanks to a three-run HR from Jason Schmidt.

Dimock-Emery would take the lead for good on a two-out, two-run single from Peyton Nash, scoring Drew Kitchens and Sam Pischke to make it 8-7 in the top of the 8th inning.

D-E would add two more insurance runs in the 9th inning on a Doug Sudbeck single to center.

Dimock-Emery (11-10) had lost both previous meetings with W/C this season, losing 17-6 and 14-3.

Phil Johnson slowed down the Winner/Colome offense after Drew Kitchens gave up five runs in 3 1/3 innings. Johnson finished the game giving up just two runs over the final 5 2/3 innings.

The Raptors knocked off two of the top five teams in the final Class B Amateur Baseball poll of the season in #1 Alexandria and #5 Winner/Colome to win District 5B.

Both teams will find out who they will play in the first round of the Class B State Amateur Baseball Tournament tomorrow when the brackets are announced.
