Man Connected to 2021 Giliberto’s Taco Shop Shooting Sentenced for Firearm Possession

Antoine Demetrius Richardson Jr., linked to the fatal 2021 shooting at Giliberto’s Mexican Taco Shop, where one person died, has been sentenced to 42 months for firearm possession while holding a felony drug conviction.

Richardson, initially charged with aggravated assault and other offenses related to the shooting, pleaded guilty on Aug. 24, 2023.

The incident involved a dispute between two groups, resulting in an unspecified number of shots fired and the death of 37-year-old Garang Hakim Aluong.

Another person was injured outside the Sioux Falls restaurant.

Isaac Mohammed Wali, also connected to the shooting, faces charges of aggravated assault and awaits trial scheduled for Nov. 30, 2023.
