Minnesota’s farmers over halfway harvesting corn silage

Dry conditions continue to impact crops in Minnesota.  USDA reporters say only 25% of the state’s topsoil has adequate moisture, with 44% short and 31% very short of moisture.

Eighty-six percent of Minnesota’s corn has reached the dent stage, about a week ahead of average.  Thirty-seven percent of the crop is mature, and 1% of that corn for grain has been harvested.  Just 39% of the state’s corn is rated good to excellent.  The corn silage harvest is well underway with 60% of the silage now harvested.
